Greetings from the Confidentia Shrine,
The month of June is the month of the Heart! It is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The heart resembles the core of the person, their love, passion, and life…. Jesus’ and Mary’s hearts are totally surrendered to doing God’s will while on earth and now in heaven! These two hearts in heaven beat for us! They long to unite their hearts with ours. But we know from experience that Our Lord and his mother can offer their hearts to us only to the degree that we are receptive. If our hearts are occupied with self-love, we cannot lift them up to our covenant partners.
The month of the two hearts reminds us that our relationship with Christ and Mary should not be just a sporadic contact, but a lasting 24/7 connection. “It should be a relationship that shapes and forms our whole life and does not just give us strength now and then to meet the challenges of our everyday life. It should be a relationship that shapes our basic attitude and outlook on life, from which we encounter the people with whom we must deal.” (My Heart-Your Shrine, Aphorisms by Fr. Kentenich)
To abide in the love of Jesus and Mary is to abide in that love that urged them to offer themselves for us to the Father. Every celebration of the Eucharist reminds us of this when we receive the gift of Jesus in holy communion. Let us then go with Mary to the altar and unite our hearts with hers in holy communion with her Son. “Let us abide in holy triple unity, and thus go in the Holy Spirit to the Father .”
